For celebrities, the sweet, flowery or fruity smell of success

Reporting from New York Macy's Herald Square is teeming with tweenage girls this muggy, late June afternoon. One of them, Miranda Santiago, has chosen to spend part of her vacation from Argentina camped outside the store, near a life-sized cardboard cutout of singer Justin Bieber promoting his just-released fragrance for women, Someday. Never mind that most of the "women" here today are in middle school. "I love him! I love him!" wails Santiago. "When I use the perfume, I feel him!" She and the others are vying to be among the first 325 to buy Bieber's $135 VIP gift set the following morning, which comes with a chance to meet Bieber at Macy's later in the week. Bieber himself saunters down the purple carpet two days later, ensconced in rings of security, as 300-some fans shriek in unison. He's already finished a "Today" show appearance that morning, during which Bieber circled Rockefeller Plaza spritzing wrists with perfume. As

NEW YORK -- Jacob, Ethan and Michael were the top boy names in 2010, while Isabella, Sophia and Emma were favorites for girls but celebrities are exerting a big influence of what parents chose to name their newborns. An analysis of 23 million page views of individual baby name pages on a baby names website shows that celebrities have a big impact on name selections. "Five years ago, I might have said that the biggest overarching factor was personal meaning, now the biggest factor is celebrities," said Pam Satran, the developer of the nameberry.com website. She added that the number of searches for a particular baby name is a good indicator of how people will behave when the time comes to actually name their child, as opposed to data from the U.S. Social Security Administration, which tracks the numbers of babies with a particular name. The name Pippa, she explained, came to sudden prominence after Pippa Middleton caught the world's attention when she was the maid of honor

Where celebrities stay in Baltimore

In June, when Sade was preparing to kick off her first tour in more than a decade, the husky-voiced crooner tweeted about her love of Baltimore and entertained reporters while relaxing in her 2,100-square-foot suite at the Hotel Monaco . When in town, actor Gene Hackman has been known to chat up other guests at the bar in the Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys. Movie stars and musicians have a long history of coming to Baltimore for gigs. But in recent years, the city has attracted more high-profile shows and films, from Rihanna and U2 to HBO 's "Game Change." And while the A-listers are here, local hotels are willing to go great lengths to accommodate them. The long-term benefits of hosting a celebrity far outweigh the occasional pesky request, hotel officials said. "We love it when celebrities stay with us," said Lindsey Grocholski, sales manager for Radisson Hotel Cross Keys. "It's fun for us. It's cool to be able to say that we hosted these celebrit

The 2009 world road champion is recognised in cycling as one of the biggest stars and he is understood to earn about 3 million a year ($3.97 million) with his BMC team.
