Celebrities to address diocese women's conference

WORCESTER Liz Walker, the longtime Boston television news anchor, and Kathy Sherman, the singer-songwriter, are the keynote speakers at the Diocese of Worcester's sixth conference for women, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 5 at the DCU Center.

The event has been held every other year since 2002

Ms. Walker, the former journalist at WBZ-TV 4, is an ordained minister who, over the past 10 years, has been helping My Sister's Keeper build a school in southern Sudan.

Ms. Sherman, a composer and poet, has released 18 compact discs.

Participants will also have the chance to take part in workshops led by a theologian, a retreat director, and an actress who plays the role of Mother Teresa in a play.

The daylong conference will end with a Mass celebrated by retired Auxiliary Bishop George E. Rueger. The African Choir from St. Peter's Parish will perform.

Admission, which includes lunch, is $50 for adults and $25 for students.
