Summer's a time to hang out on the beach and to cruise the strip, and for celebrities, it's also a great time to get a new tattoos. Celebs have certainly gotten their share of work done this year. Here's a look at a few of the most notable tattoos from the past several months.

Lindsay Lohan's Billy Joel Tattoo

- Lohan revealed this week that she has a tattoo of lyrics from songwriter Billy Joel's 1989 song "I Go To Extremes.". It's a big tattoo, too, according to TMZ, and it extends across the actress's ribcage, reading "Clear as a crystal, sharp as a knife, I feel like I'm in the prime of my life."

According to the site, Lohan got the tattoo to show her triumph over her past troubles and her new-found focus.

Tori Spelling's Wedding Vows -

The best way to remind your spouse of his wedding vows might be to get them tattooed right where he can see them. In May, actress Tori Spelling showed off a tattoo on the right side of her ribs which contains the following lines from husband Dean McDermott's vows:

Journey with me my love

and I promise you my heart

and I promise you my soul

for my bounty is as boundless

as the sea and my love as deep;

the more I give to thee, the more

I have, for both are infinite.

McDermott also has a few tats--four in honor of his wife.

Miley Cyrus Gets Tatted To Support Gay Marriage -

Disney star Miley Cyrus has talked about supporting LGBT rights for a while, but at the end of July, the star took her talk to a new level. She hit Twitter to show a small finger tattoo that symbolizes her support for gay marriage.

Cyrus accompanied the tattoo with a tweet which read "ALL LOVE is equal," and defended herself to some of her more vocal conservative fans. It's not Cyrus's first tattoo; she has another finger tattoo in addition to several others.

Jennifer Aniston Honors Her Dog - Aniston's Welsh corgi/terrier mix, Norman, died in May, and by June, Aniston had visited the tattoo parlor to honor the dog's memory. The tattoo is on her ankle and simply reads "Norman." Aniston later spoke about the dog during a visit to "Inside The Actor's Studio."
