Celebrities pay tribute on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks
CELEBRITIES have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to those who lost their lives ten years ago in the 9/11 attacks in New York.
A host of celebrities, including Coleen Rooney, above right, posted their heartfelt messages online today.
Coleen wrote: "9/11....RIP, thinking of everyone involved, such a sad day x".
Victoria Beckham posted: "Please follow @action_america. never forget xvb".
Action America is a "coalition of Actionists dedicated to uniting & activating Americans everywhere to reclaim 9/11 and make it a day of positive action".
Posh is currently in the States and working on her collection for New York Fashion Week.
Liam Gallagher wrote: "NYC, Live Forever....LG".
The Beady Eye frontman was in Japan last week and thanked his audiences in Nagoya and Tokyo for their support and told them: "Love is real."
Siva Kaneswaran from The Wanted wrote: "My thoughts are with the victims of 9/11 and their family's xx(sic)".
US star Nicki Minaj said: "Sending my love to the victims of 9/11. Remembering the heroism. The brave men & women. The troops. We become alive in the time of fear."
Jay Camilleri from E4 show Dirty Sexy Things added: "My thoughts are with those people who lost family and friends #9/11 x".
Today sees the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on East Coast America.
Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four passenger jets and flew them on suicide strikes, two of them destroying New York's World Trade Centre - the famous 'Twin Towers'.
A third plane hit the Pentagon, and the fourth crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Nearly 3,000 people lost their lives in the attacks, including 343 New York firefighters and 60 police officers working to rescue trapped civilians.
None of the four jets' passengers survived.
