WWE: Celebrities Who Should Be Inducted into the Hall of Fame
Over the past seven years, the WWE has opened the doors of its Hall of Fame to a select number of celebrities.
Since 2004, we have seen the likes of Pete Rose, William "The Refrigerator" Perry, Bob Uecker and and even Drew Carey inducted into WWE immortality. Each made their respective influence on the business and were enshrined into the company's hall for it.
So as the company continues to recognize a few celebrities for their contributions, here is a list of individuals who should be introduced into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Mike Tyson
After witnessing Shawn Michaels retain his WWF title and Stone Cold win the traditional match at the 1998 Royal Rumble, boxing legend Mike Tyson was named the special enforcer for that upcoming WrestleMania.
So at WrestleMania XIV, Tyson would be in the middle of Austin vs. Michaels for the company's most sought after prize. And what did we discover about this angle? That Tyson plus Austin plus HBK equals GOLD.
Near the end of the main event, Austin delivered his Stone Cold Stunner to Michaels after he escaped the Sweet Chin Music. With referee Mike Chioda left unconscious, Tyson jumped into the ring and the rest is history.
He made a quick three count in favor of Austin and crowned the rattlesnake as the new WWF Champion. Tyson proceeded to drop Michaels with a punch after the match was over.
Thanks to Mike Tyson, the WWE saw its greatest era hit its highest peak.
Lawrence Taylor
What does Lawrence Taylor have in common with Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H?
Well, just as those aforementioned wrestling greats, LT has won a main event at a WrestleMania.
The linebacker of the New York Giants faced off against Bam Bam Bigelow at WrestleMania XI. The match lasted nearly 12 minutes, seeing Taylor upset Bigelow at the company's largest show.
LT jumped off the second rope, delivered a forearm to Bigelow's head and pinned him for the three count.
Muhammad Ali
If Drew Carey can make the Hall of Fame for participating in a Royal Rumble match, why can't an icon like Muhammad Ali make it for his appearance at the very first WrestleMania?
As one of a handful of celebrities that attended WrestleMania, Ali helped the then WWF soar to new heights. His role as the guest referee for the main event added to the show's already glistening star power.
So without the likes of Ali participating at the first WrestleMania, would the WWE be what it is today? Maybe not.
Donald Trump
Being that Vince McMahon and Donald Trump are good friends, this selection should be coming to reailty very soon. Both are extremely well-off, have built up their own empires and have their fair share of fans and enemies.
But Trump's likeliness to Vince isn't why he should be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. It is his participation in the company's biggest event, WrestleMania.
Donald Trump's Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey was host to two consecutive 'Manias,WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V. He also appeared at VII and XX and took part in the "Battle of the Billionaires" at 23.
Sure, Trump isn't the first celebrity you would connect to the WWE. But his influence was felt throughout five 'Manias, making his Hall of Fame spot a justified one.
Mr. T
If there's any celebrity that deserves a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame, it has to be Mr. T.
For one, the man participated in the very first main event for the very first WrestleMania. Along with Hulk Hogan, Mr. T battled Rowdy Roddy Piper and Mr. Wonderful himself, Paul Orndorff.
Needless to say, T and Hogan defeated Piper and Orndorff to cap off what what become the first edition of a sports entertainment spectacle.
Mr. T also appeared at WrestleMania II to take on Piper once again, but this time in a boxing match. T won the bout after Piper bodyslammed him in the fourth round. Piper was disqualified, and Mr. T saw himself winning his second match at Wrestlemania.
Mr. T's influence and contribution to the company is certainly deserving of a Hall of Fame nod.
