Celebrities for Charity partners with U. S. Biathlon

The Sports NetworkPortland, ME (NEWS CENTER)-U. S. Biathlon announced a fundraising partnership with the Celebrities for Charity Foundation today. The hope is to better fund the U. S. Biathlon team. Biathlon remains the only sport in which the United States has never won a medal in the Winter Olympics.
Former Bruins great Ray Bourque was on hand to announce the partnership. Former Bruins goalie Cleon Daskalakas was also on hand representing the foundation.
Celebrities for Charity assist celebrities in fulfilling their philanthropic aspirations.It has the technology to run on line raffles. The receiving charity puts up prizes.
The Portland Sea Dogs are assisting U. S. Biathlon which is headquartered in New Gloucester, Maine. The raffle winner will be able to sign a one-day contract as a first round pick for the Portland Sea Dogs. The winner will alsoreceive six box seats to a game, a personalized jersey, a personal baseball card and the right to designate a bat boy or girl for the game.
"I joined the Foundation (U. S. Biathlon Foundation) board because I have been inspired by the quality of the athletes and want to support them as they strive to get their first Olympic medal," said Bourque who was a Canadian Olympian in 1998.
U. S. Biathlon hopes to use this auction as model for similar drawings around the country.
