EASTENDERS SID OWEN GETS LATE CALL TO THE CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER HOUSE
EASTENDERS star Sid Owen has signed up for the Celebrity Big Brother house.
Sid Owen, 39, best known as grease monkey Ricky Butcher, clinched a last-minute deal to appear in Celebrity Big Brother next week.
Sid, currently on a break from Eastenders, is no stranger to reality TV contests.
He appeared in Im A Celebrity... in 2005 and braved snakes and spiders in a series of testing Bushtucker Trials, such as being buried alive in a jungle coffin.

He came third behind Carol Thatcher, 57, and runner-up Sheree Murphy, 35.
Now Sid, who got his Rickeeee nickname from bossy onscreen wife Bianca (Patsy Palmer, 39) will face another trial, in the new Big Brother house.
Even though he will be surrounded by babes including The Only Way Is Essex beauty Amy Childs, 21, American Pie actress Tara Reid, 35, and Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson, 44, he will not be able to get near them.
Thats because he is engaged to stunning girlband star Polly Parsons, 26.
A show source said: Poor Sid. Its every mans dream to be surrounded by such beauties but hes going to have to keep his hands off them.
It will make Im A Celebrity seem like a walk in the park.
Actor Sid will join the show when it launches next Thursday on Channel 5 at 9pm.
Other stars tipped to enter the famous house include The Hoffs ex missus Pamela Bach, 48, X Factor twins Jedward, 19, ex-jungle queen Kerry Katona, 30, and her mum Sue, 50, Big Fat Gypsy Weddings bare knuckle fighter Paddy Doherty, 52, the House of Commons Speakers wife Sally Bercow, 41, R&B singer Bobby Brown, 42, actor Charlie Sheen 45, and Wayne Rooneys hooker Jenny Thomson, 21.
Last night a Channel 5 spokesman said: Big Brother execs are in talks with a number of celebrities about appearing on the Channel 5 series but were not confirming any names at the moment.
Meanwhile, BB presenter Brian Dowling has taken a bitchy swipe at former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, 28, after the pair battled it out for the prized job of hosting the new Channel 5 show.
Brian, 33, said: They said I did the best screen test ever and Im very good at walking and talking, which you wouldnt think would be difficult, but it is.
Obviously someone else they tested wasnt very good... Cheryl Cole!
