A new trend has emerged: Regular, every day people are taking to YouTube to ask their favorite celebrities to Marine balls and high school proms. These videos are bringing their originators a little bit of celebrity as well.

Mila Kunis:

Sgt. Scott Moore made a video asking Mila Kunis to the Marine Corps Ball and more invites have made their way to other celebrities and bringing them a bit of celebrity, too.

It's not all about the Marine's, though. and Moore wasn't the first to ask a celebrity to a dance.

Justin Bieber:

In April 2011, Teen Cady Eimer, 17, posted a video on YouTube inviting Selena Gomez's main squeeze Justin Bieber, also 17, to her prom in Poquoson, VA.

Wearing Kanye West-like shades and looking all kinds of cool, the teen freestyle raps, "I'm a fly looking lady. I like you for you, so your mom would approve."

Eimer continued, telling the teen heartthrob, "It will be really fun, cuz I'm awesome."

Watch out, Selena. You may have a little friendly (or unfriendly) competition on your hands.

Justin Timberlake:

Kunis' "Friends with Benefits" co-star Justin Timberlake, who encouraged Kunis to accept Moore's invite and telling her to do it for her country, received an invitation from Marine Kelsey De Santis. Timberlake has reportedly agreed to attend the Marine Corps Ball with De Santis on November 12 in Washington D.C., provided there's no conflict with his schedule.

Betty White:

Sgt. Ray Lewis, who has served in Afghanistan and Iraq, asked 90-year old Betty White to the Marine Corps Ball. The "Hot in Cleveland" actress turned him down due to a scheduling conflict. "Terminator" star Linda Hamilton playfully begged the Marine to take her to the ball instead.

In his video, Lewis said of White, "She's funny, she's sweet, she's mature, she's the all around perfect woman."

In her video to Lewis, Hamilton tells him, "I am no Betty White '" I am only half as mature as she is, wink, wink, but I am twice as funny! So I think that works out. Please take me to the ball, please, please, Ray. Call Me."

I don't know about you, but I think Hamilton could give the young Lewis a run for his money when she gets her groove going on the dance floor. And what a fun date it would be!

Scarlett Johansson:

Sgt. Dustin L. Williams recently posted a funny video on YouTube asking actress Scarlett Johansson to the Marine Corps ball in Albany, GA. in November. However, Johansson declined the invitation citing "prior commitments" as the reason she couldn't attend. Johansson did send the Marine "... a case of Moet and Chandon with gratitude," the actress said.

Tough break, Sgt. Williams, but I hear Linda Hamilton may be available.
