So Ron Artest thinks he can dance.

Not just in the clubs he tends to frequent, but on stage -- on a national stage.

Like dozens of athletes before him, the Lakers forward is eager to tango, jive and quickstep in front of a live studio audience and the millions who tune in weekly to "Dancing With The Stars", the popular dance show where celebrities, actors and athletes compete for the coveted mirrored ball. Artest is expected to announce his appearance during Monday's showing of "The Bachelor" on KABC/7.

But as of last month, Artest wasn't sure about appearing on the show.

"I like the show," he said after one of his comedy shows at the Brea Improv. "Obviously, you have to dance. I play defense. I don't know if I dance."

Artest, known for his defensive footwork on the basketball court, will attempt to see if those skills translate to the dance floor when Season 13 begins Sept. 19.

Whether Artest can dance or not, this season's show certainly will be unpredictable.
